A message from the CEO

Dear Members,

It is an absolute privilege to join Futurity Investment Group Limited (Futurity) as its next CEO, and to serve you, our Members.  I would like to thank our Members and stakeholders for the very warm welcome.

In joining, I want to acknowledge and express our sincere thanks to Ross Higgins, who led the organisation for four and a half years and was instrumental in developing and launching our new suite of unitised products.

What appealed most to me about Futurity is our vision that informs everything we do, which is for a society where everyone has access to quality education to fulfil their dreams and aspirations.   We express this through the products we offer, and have offered, for almost 50 years and through our research, advocacy and philanthropic activities.

Cost of Living

We recognise that broader cost of living pressures continue to create challenges, particularly in an environment where education and education-related costs are also increasing rapidly.

We seek to support members directly through the design of our education bond, which allows families and individuals to better plan for future education expenses, and indirectly through our advocacy with key stakeholders.

As an example, Futurity recently advocated against the removal of payroll tax exemptions for high income non-government schools in Victoria. We have since seen the annual fee threshold doubled, which has mitigated the negative impact for many families and individuals.

Member Survey

You would have recently received our Member Survey which is an important way for us to better understand your perspectives on our products, service quality and key issues. The insights that we gain through our Member Surveys directly influence how we enhance our offering to you, and I encourage you to participate.

Over and above our Member Surveys, your feedback is valued and welcome at any time.

AGM and Annual Report

With the 2023 Financial Year behind us, we are looking forward to welcoming you at the 2023 Annual General Meeting later this year and will share a notice of meeting shortly. Alongside this we are developing our Annual Report, which articulates how we deliver value to you and the many strategic priorities that were delivered last financial year. We look forward to sharing this with you.

NEiTA Awards

Founded in 1994, the National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA) 2023 will take place on 1 December, in Melbourne.

The NEiTA Awards, which are proudly supported by Futurity, have recognised and rewarded exceptional teachers for over 27 years, and are the longest running, community-based awards program of its kind in Australia and New Zealand.

This year we received a record number of applications which speaks to the quality of our educators across the country. Judging of applications is in process and we look forward to announcing and celebrating award recipients in early December.

Thank you again for the warm welcome and I look forward to sharing our progress over the months ahead.

Best regards

Sam Sondhi
